About

This blog was created in November 2011 as a place to share my style and the many things that inspire me every day. The name of this blog, moda + medialunas, means fashion and croissants in Spanish. Specifically, medialunas are a sugar-glazed pastry usually paired with coffee that I became obsessed with while studying abroad in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 2008. Buenos Aires is also where my love-affair with fashion began. PorteƱos, as the residents of Buenos Aires are called, have an incredibly vibrant street-style culture that was something I had never been exposed to in either Birmingham, Alabama, where I grew up, nor in Atlanta, where I currently live.

I graduated from Georgia State University in 2010 with a degree in International Studies and a minor in Middle East Studies. After not being able to find work in my field I turned to retail and found a desire to be in the business of fashion as a merchandiser/buyer. I decided to create this space after receiving numerous compliments on my personal style and inquiries about where I have purchased various pieces in my wardrobe. It is my hope that in sharing my own style it will inspire others as well as force me to push my own boundaries.
